Electricity, glorious electricity (Snow Day #6)

friday morning we woke to a world still covered in snow and a very cold house. The rain had started to drizzle but had yet to put much of a dent in the ice and snow. Starting to become a little impatient and grumpy John found the best medicine of all, in service. He got on the phone and started finding out who needed help and then announced we were heading to the neighbors. I think he just wanted to use the chainsaw, but it worked. We found a lil joy and happiness in clearing the brush, the branches, the cars and clearing the world. Then we jumped in the car and went in search of gas and more work/service. I'm not sure John knew what he was signing himself up for-but it was a good afternoon. John ended up hiking to help fix a busted pipe and the kids and I headed home to see the conditions of things and if they had improved. power was restored about 3:30, but I didn't realize that I needed to go throw the breaker back on, assuming John had done that the night before, so we sat in our cold 60 degree home (which isn't nearly as cold as it was outside or could've been) for a few more hours. The Clifton's made the kids night when they invited us over for pizza, Little Caesar's pizza. Overall it has been a pretty good day, and I found relief in a little power. I found myself crashing with the kids at 8:30, all of us in our bedroom again for one last slumber party, which actually started out more party than slumber. But all good things must come to an end and Slumber we all did in warm and comfort.

My heart is full and thankful to all the people who have been working around the clock restoring power and heat to those without.
