Last night I went to see it with a bunch of girlfriends from church. I was afraid being opening night it was going to be a little crazy. It was busy so I was glad that we had arrived early, for the most part we were in 2 seperate groups. There were lots of teenage girls in Twilight and black T-shirts, but nothing like what I'd heard about other places...lots of goth, people dressing as characters...There was another girl there, Ashlee who's due 2 days after I am which made a couple of people nervous. SO much that everytime I'd get a little tense because of the movie she'd panic and ask me if I was ok, I think she was sure I was going to go into labor. We probably shouldn't have put her between Ashley and I, but that was half the fun.
I read only one review before going which wasn't very positive, the statement that rang through my mind was, "if you want something to really sink your teeth into then stay home on a rainy day and re-read the books." I was nervous about the casting as what you see in your head is almost never going to be the same as everyone else. I was pleasantly surprised to "approve" or maybe agree with who they had cast. There were a couple of things and/or people that was quite different but I really liked Bella & they did pretty good with Edward.
My thoughts on the movie are this: It was done pretty well. There really was just too much to try and fit into a 2 hr movie and so I felt like they really were only able to barely touch the surface or barely address all the things in the book. I don't mind it means re-reading the book will always be like a more indepth experience and give me "something to really sink my teeth" into.
I'm interested to hear everyone's review on the movie Twilight. So leave me a comment or if you've written about it on your blog then just let me know.
PS-I was just informed that the filming of NEW MOON was announced today. Yeah!

Just got home from Twilight. I was pleasantly surprised. I agree with you and how they had to leave a lot out, but overall it was pretty good. A bit slow at first...Don't hate me, but I think they could have picked a better Edward for sure, but the other characters I liked, except for the Dr...Too pasty and young. How's John and the thumb?
Hey Mel! Kirstan and I went and saw the movie last night. I loved it! I haven't read the book yet. Well i started it.. but didnt get into it. I really want to read it now and have been soo excited to see the movie! I really like it.. and thought the characters were perfect. But its a little different cuz i didnt read it before i saw it. I actually cried at the end. haha..i am dorky and love love movies!
PS.. i have a baby gift for you..so i will give it to John to give to you! Good luck with everything!! Cant wait to meet him!
Well, I'm glad you made it! Now you can go ahead and have that baby, right?
I went and saw Twilight last night too. And I loved it. It took me some time to warm up to The Cullens, but by the end I was loving all of them. I think it would be nearly impossible to really get the perfectness ( I know that's not a word) of The Cullens because they are just so un-humanly beautiful in the books. So in the end, I really warmed up to them all and accepted them.
I sort of wished it could have been longer. I feel like it went straight from Bella figuring out they were vampires to running from James (who was WAY hotter than I had pictured him, by the way... mmm!!) I felt like there wasn't enough Bella and Edward together and getting to know The Cullens...
One more thing, sorry I know this is getting really long. But I went with a girl who has not read the books and has not wanted to because it is so "trendy" (she's in High School) and she loved it so much that she drempt of it all night and made me bring her the book today so she can start reading it.
Sorry this was so long, I'm a little excited, I LOVED the movie and I want to go see it again :)
Ok, yes I too thought the Dr was a lil too young...and pasty and his wife was nothing like I expected. I think they could've done better with her, although she was quite sweet. The show needed to be longer...they need to come out with an extended DVD version.
I did like the movie. I agree that some much was just touched the surface and I don't think I would have appreciated the movie if I hadn't read the book! There was just so much not explained quit well enough. But that is a problem having only two hours to explain such great details that made the book so good!
