Maris Farms 2011

We love October, fall and the pumpkin patches and although it was a little cold with John working Saturday mornings this was the perfect day to go. We've always loved Maris Farms and they lived up to expectations with lots to do and lots of fun!
Beginning with the Tractor!
Onto the Corn room, how many corn kernals does it take to fill a shed? How many corn kernals fell out of our pants later that day?
Face Painting
Tractor pulled Cows

Jumpy House
Fun swing tube to climb through
Horses, even the wooden kind are fabulous!
Roping your brother
The animals: Goats
Pig Races were fun to watch
The traditional HayRide while eating Popcorn
Tyler Spotted the Perfect Pumpkin while on the hay ride, although due to inflation we'll pry pick our pumpkin out of a bin...at Winco another night.

Of course the annual Pumpkin Pictures
Last but Not Least Our family picture
What is it with the tractors? Couldn't leave without getting on one more :)
What a Fantastic Day, lots of fun, lots of pictures, I think we all left quite Happy!

Special Date

On Tate's Special Date with his Dad they went to see the horses up the street from our house. While there John started talking to the owners and was able to get in to see the Kangaroos and the Emews that live there.

A few weeks later Tyler couldn't wait to have her turn and couldn't get up to the farm fast enough. The Kangaroos like bread so they took up a couple bags to feed them and to say hi.
She had a GREAT Time and the Best Dad EVER!

Fire, Fire, Table on Fire

John and I had an evening out on King County HealthPoint. They had a big anniversary Benefit Dinner downtown and invited us to attend. I was just excited to dress up, do my hair and makeup and to go out with my Hot Husband! We met some really nice people, the dinner was good, and the entertainment interesting. The most memorable part of the night happened just after we sat down for dinner.

Everyone at the table had just sat down and introductions were done and during that awkward moment of silence I noticed the votive had tipped and was about to fall over. Trying to help I reached over to tip it back up, not realizing the glass was hot I flinched after touching it and then the inevitable happened. It hit the table, the gel stuff spilled and yes, the table started on fire. I had visions in my head of the whole building going up in flames and then I began racking my brain trying to figure out what to do because at this point it looked like it was my fault. Hitting it with the paper program didn't seem right, but I couldn't see anything else around. Luckily those around me acted a little quicker than I did and they did start hitting it with programs and fabric napkins, and then waiters and the staff all began running towards us.

I was amazed that there wasn't much damage after the fire. I think the table cloths were flame resistant because not a mark. Only the table runner had a burned mark in it. This was a great topic of conversation and when people asked what had happened the gals next to me quickly pointed the finger to John and told everyone it was his fault. Thanks hunney for taking the fall for that one, I couldn't have been more embarrassed.

Tooth #2

Friday was a busy and fun day-without any school we spent the morning together and then paid a visit to Value Village and then to the Jackson's.

McKenna was thrilled to end her day in the loss of her 2nd tooth, by the hand of her lil brother Tate.
She put her tooth on the mantle in a hollow pumpkin to make things fun for the Tooth Fairy. We were ALL appalled to find the tooth still there in the morning. :) After thinking about it McKenna proposed the idea that the pumpkin was too big for the Tooth Fairy to open, so I quickly whipped up a little pillow that you hand on the doorknob of the bedroom door for the exchange.
All is well that ends well, McKenna was thrilled to have a new pillow and the tooth fairy didn't have any problems finding and taking McKenna's 2nd tooth.

Tyler is loving preschool! This is her new friend Payton during "recess".

In an effort to raise money the preschool put on a "trike-a-thon" fundraiser which included bike decorating, helmet fittings, gift baskets and a bake sale.

Martha Stewart started her new season this last week and I was in love with the Pie Pops and mini apple pies they made and decided to try them out.
The mini pies were made in muffin tins and turned out really well.
The pie pops were cute, but needed more filling in them.
Tate got himself a new helmet, but with his teeny head ended up with the smallest helmet they could find. He held remarkably still and loves his new hat. Tyler loved making a license plate and decorating the scooter. Then there was a bike parade around the park.
This is Tyler and our friend Kingston who is in her class.
I was thrilled to win a Mary Kaye Gift Basket-with some new things I've never tried before and have found I love.

McKenna was invited to Tierden's Pirate birthday party where she was given new Pirate attire. She had a great time at the party!

2 Yr Olds & a Party

While Tyler and McKenna are in school I trade babysitting with Leslie and I had my first go of taking care of Tate and his 2 friends Tiari and Christian. Together they are quite an easy going crew-we played with the toys and then we decided to get the playdough out.

Tate's hair had gotten quite long and with the kids preoccupied I took advantage of the situation to do a little hair cutting. I never know how it's going to go with Tate and his attention span, but with his buddies around he did really well, and at Leslie's bidding I also cut Christian's hair who was enthralled by the toools and the experience.
Here's the after picture of Tate-with a bit of chocolate on his face from the bribery of PB M&M's to sit still for each cutting. You gots to do what you gots to do.
Here's the whole crew:

I always think the kids are cute when they are sleeping-something you always want to remember-plus this kid doesn't stop so these moments are especially precious.
This is his new napping place-usually on the couch with Tyler and I around.
Thinking about it, he's always slept better when people were around, noise and all.
